Yo, so last session I rolled Heir of Sand, so I figured I would follow up my Dream guide with one about Sand. Again, anything anyone knows about the aspect would be great, but readers, be warned: we Sand players are notorious for deceiving. Past me managed to dick around so that some of what I learned as Sand isn't available to me, but I've managed to hack my way into some of my old logs. Happy reading! (As always, comments are appreciated)
Abilities:
[Gilded Sands]: Supposedly cleaves a large gash into the ground. Massive damage to underlings, and from what I can gather, has a very low pluck impact.
[Endless Expanse]: Possible Berserk Trigger. Turns the land into a huge wasteland/desert. Land recovery is nullified in this new space, I actually think that this breaks the script.
[Mayor Maynot]: Another Possible Berserk Trigger. No information available. This may also be a Dream ability.
[Divide and Conquer]: At least this one we have the name correct. (Big thanks to a fellow Prince of Dreams who pulled that one out for us.) This ability may be come redirect ability geared towards others.
[Bend Their Will]: A social ability. This is most commonly used on Carapacians on Dream Moons to up your Moon reputation. This ability is used to convince a construct that you are a "chill bro" or whatever. Said construct then spreads the word to its friends. This works really well if you screw up and somehow destroy your Moon or Land Reputation.
Common Sand Issues:
WARNING: Sand Players are chronic liars and deceivers. (Not dissing Sand, however. Truthfully it's one of my favorite aspects) However, it is a good idea not to trust anything they say.
Sand players rely generally on manipulation of things. They manipulate the land to waste underlings, they manipulate feelings to get what they want. They also deal with fragmentation and breaking things apart. As bad as it sounds, this is actually a really useful ability. You can break apart groups on enemies, they can manipulate the ground to bury underlings in a rockslide, etc.
Sand players, as far as I know, have a pretty even distribution on which Dream Moon they end up on. The same applies for whether or not the Dreamself is awake pre-entry.
Sand Players a generally great at dealing with Carapacians. With their natural abilities, they are able to deal very well with those cute little chess guys, and thus their Dream Moon Reputation is very high for most of the game. This can be exploited by using [Bend Their Will] on visiting emissaries from the other kingdom to max out your rep there. This, if done correctly, should allow you to travel to the opposite moon and complete the quests there.
A common issue with Sand players is that you will probable never see them attack. If you are being attacked, for example, they probably won't do anything until you turn your back. I quote The SBURB Glitch FAQ:
"This one time, I was hanging around with a Sand bro and a collosal-class underling snuck on us. It started me and I looked behind us frantically to assess and escape path. When I turned around, the monstruous titan was gone. In its stead, a gigantic cleft stretched far into the horizon, like the groove left by the axe of an angry god that had split the landscape in twain.
Then I was like "dude where's the monster"
"what monster"
"dude there was a huge thing"
"oh it left"
"the hell happened here?"
"what do you mean? the trail? that was always there bro"
That's fricking Sand players for ya."
WARNING: Have your Sand Player avoid your Rain Player AT ALL COSTS! Due to the sneaky chaotic tendencies of Sand and the openly chaotic tendencies of Rain, these two, when paired together, will likely never get anything done. Your Sand Player will probably just stand there and seethe while your Rain Player laughs and blows s*** up. I'm speaking from personal experience here.
Denizens:
Apate: Generally female exclusive. Specializes in deceit, it would be wise to take everything she says as the exact opposite. Or maybe as literal? God she is too complicated. If you have her, you're not gonna have any troubles killing her.
Hermes: Gender Neutral. Specializes in social interaction. Probably the best Sand Denizen out there, as he is pretty straightforward and helpful. Has huge wings on his back and on his tail.
Loki: Gender Neutral. I had this bastard and I hated him. He was always trying to make deals with me and they were so inane or stupid. One time, for example, he offered to trade me a better alchemiter for my heart. MY HEART. Like, seriously? By the way, his beard is f***ing stupid. Seriously, who designed him? But I digress.
Set: Generally male exclusive. From what I've heard down the Replayer Chain, he's basically a bright red Loki. More information needed.
Vamari: Generally female exclusive. A "Giant Squiddily Denizen" (Source: HorrorTerror) who is associated with others. Tends to give her players corruption problems, so make sure to wear a Frog Suit or the like when you go to visit. Generally considered a monster who destroys for no reason. Don't expect too many consorts on your land if you have this Denizen.
