You stare into the embers for awhile, enjoying the warmth and comraderie by the fire with their full session. You poke the fire absently with a stick, sitting between Mica and Julie.
You pulled the hoodie over your head, still in your rather short swim trunks, and the feeling was one of nostalgia. You knew in your heart that this was a moment you'd look back on with longing.
"These are the moments that make it all worth it." You declare.

"Yeah...It's nice."
She smiles, disappearing for a moment then reappearing, decaptchaloguing some extra chocolate and graham crackers. The conveniences of time travel, smores edition. Setting them somewhere where they can be shared freely, she enjoys some smores already.

"Yea, these really are the best times" you say. You sit across the fire from Mica, staring into it and occasionally playing a lick to keep the fire going.
While the atmosphere is fantastic, you are starting to feel more reserved as the day wears on. You like your company, but you're not sure what to say.
Trying to break the mild unsettling silence, you ask, in a slightly quiet voice, "so anyone got any good spooky stories?"

"Alright," you say, rubbing your hands together and sighing deeply, "I've got one about my run in with Angel corruption. Anyone interested in hearing?" You ask, just in case anyone is uncomfortable with the subject.

Angel corruption? You've yet to hear a firsthand account of that. "I'm game." You say.
Though it occurs to you that Mica might not be too comfortable with the idea. Though he hasn't said anything, so maybe this will help him.

"Worth a shot. Go on, we're listening."
The plurality of that statement refers to observing parties, but that's nothing new to anyone, is it?
Julie waits patiently for a new story.

(((assume that any spelling errors are him slurring his words)))
You take a deep breath. "Alright. Let's go with the beginning. My native sessions seer of mind was a heavy drug user. He managed to find his way into the underworld way sooner than intended by the game. So, he began acting weirdly over chat. When my native session went batchit crazy, I gained incredible power over my aspect thanks to Nyx's Blessing. I needed his 'help' to ascend."
You take a deep breathe, steeling yourself to admit what was coming. "He came to my land and we battled over my quest bed. Everntyally he overpowered me, but I didn't defend myself. He caved my head in with a hammer." You pause, recollecting the horrifying moments as you watched the hammer desend straight for your head.
"I ascended to god tier. I flew back to my land, powered my my ARC and Blessing from Nyx. This was around the time I glitched out my mangrit stat. I met him back on my quest bed, and he was glowing yellow and sprouted wings from his back. He spoke like his voice was layered. I punched him right in the face and he flew clear off the spire, creating a trench in the ground."
You take a final pause before continuing. "I realized that I could see his health vial, but I could also see -him-, as an abstraction of the universe. I reached my hand out, and I ripped him into nothingness with the Void."
You finished your story and stared into the fire, waiting for them to realize your story wasn't about the horrors of angel corruption, but about your own abilities.

Yes. Hell Yes. Hell FUCKING Yes.
You are blown away by Will's void powers. Yes, his story wasn't exactly about Angels, but that doesn't matter. You're glad to know that you aren't the only one with a freaky void experience. Maybe it's time to tell everyone about your nativ...... Nah. It's not the time.
You smile. "Nice story Will." You pause to keep the fire up. "Void powers are really crazy, aren't they? I mean, all the untapped potential there."
You realize you miss being a Void Player.

"So you flung him into Old Isn't like the Royal Vault." Julie said hollowly, as if she wasn't herself. Her voice was robotic, cold even. "You erased it. Flung it away..."
She pauses, still staring into the fire as well.
"If you hadn't had a goddess on hand, I doubt you could have done that to them so neatly. Still a nice revelation, however."
This was a bit strange for a supposedly incurably cheery girl. Maybe it was just something else on her mind.

You bring your towel over near the fire to sit on and hum a bit to yourself as the flames take hold and s'more ingredients are passed around. This is really nice; between the alcohol, the fire, and the company, you feel all warm and fuzzy. You don't get many moments like this in the game. You roast a marshmallow and sandwich it between some graham crackers and chocolate; the gooey sugar fluff squeezes out from the s'more and gets all over your hands and face as you bite down into it.
You give the boy sitting next to you a worried look when he offers up his story of dealing with his corrupted Seer. Wouldn't that still be pretty fresh and raw? "...You sure you want to talk about that?" you ask. But he continues anyways, and you're pretty in awe of what he went through, and what he did. You'd never had to deal with a player who actually wanted you dead, and you'd never had to kill anyone.
"Wow, you're... really strong, huh?" you say, looking thoughtfully at Will. You don't just mean his physical power; he had to have some pretty impressive emotional strength, to be able to shoulder getting killed by a native coplayer and then subsequently killing them, followed by leaving everyone else to die in his doomed session and being subjected to an Other's whims in order to get here alongside all of you.

Julie cheers up, back to her normal self after a moment of prayer for the fallen.
"Well, everyone's alright now, that's good! Yeah, he is strong!"

You're surprised to hear their words of support. You begin to feel at ease, but there's still one thing you left out.
"Before I wiped him out, I uttered a phrase. What scares me is that I can't figure out if I was saying it myself, or if it was the name of the ability, or if it was something else but...." you pause slightly, "I told him, 'I Cannot Permit You To Exist'." you finish, sighing slightly.
"So, there's my opening up for the night I guess."

You hadn't sat down yet, you wanted to observe just a little bit before you did. Feeling satisfied, you join the rest around the campfire and get a hold of some s'more-making ingredients and tools. You spend a little bit too much time trying to get a sense of GT's shiny to be discrete. You were no avatar yet, and you had a long way to go to having the strong shinysense of one. Still, you wanted get a better sense of what was going on in his emotional state. The story was recent, and here he was talking more about his strength than the screwed up reality that is angel corruption.
You had Adam make a note that you should have a talk with him later. For now, though, it was story time. "You guys want to hear a similar but different story?"

You stood up and let The Shade bring you to a more relaxed state, allowing in turn for the sky to darken and set the mood.
"It was my third session. There were four of us. I was a Dame of Life at the time. We also had a Knight of Space who was a native Thief of Time, a Bane of Heart who was a native Witch of Rage, and a Ward of Void who was a native Sage of Law." You looked at WL as you spoke the final native title, giving him a small nod and a solemn look.
"To preface this, earlier in the session I had alchemized a weapon called 'Henderson's Holy Hasturkiller' which is basically an explosive designed to harm select Others. It also, turned out, was pretty much made of angelic corruption. Thankfully I was prepared and had an ichor-based system to expose myself to ichor and reduce corruption from either side. I'd like to reiterate that this was during a revival of my experimental phase with my interactions with corruption. Point is, I had a potent weapon to fight corruption with. I didn't have the specibus for it, but I was able to do some additional edits to get a recipe for a version with a CPU built in, allowing me to make use of it." This time you looked to GT - you still knew the recipe to make the base item. Perhaps it would be a useful alternative to karaoke in the future.
The next person you looked to was AN. "Turns out, I was not the only one who was experimenting with corruption. Our Void player had made his first foray into magic. He didn't have anyone's advice on what to avoid, and started down the dark path that lead to corruption magic very quickly. Before we knew it, he was testing spells on gates, and then soon after began shattering them."
"I wish I had known to act - but part of me liked the idea of fighting back against the game." It was now WA's turn. "We all like the idea of fighting back against this thing, but it I think we all know how it goes when you use corruption. He moved on from the mechanical stuff and determined something about game abstractions - determined that we were all volatile game abstractions and had to be 'cleaned out' to make room for what was coming. Our Bane's last action was spent warning us of what he'd become."
You moved on to TG - this was the exciting part, after all. "I had a life to defend. I was going to live no matter what, and I informed the Knight that he would have to throw corruption at me from afar to save me when all was said in done. I knew what I had to do to survive the fight. I met him in between the Bane's land and my own. I drew the weapon and everything I'd forgotten from my first session flooded back to me before I unleashed the weapon's power at him. When the dust settled, there was nothing left - it was as though he had never even existed." You pulled out a card from your encryption modus - not the item within. You showed them all the weapon in the card before putting it back. You looked again to WL. "I always carry the weapon with me as a reminder of what happened - and a reminder of what happens if we don't fight back against corruption."
The last person you looked to was RT "Angel corruption is pretty awful too, but thankfully the weapon was destroyed by it's own use, and while I was still a singer, halo and all, I wasn't nearly as far along as the Ward had been, especially thanks to the amount of ichor I was exposed to by my pre-prepared system, and so our space player was able to throw enough corrupted crap form the Bane's land at me that I became hug-able, and did as you'd expect."
As you finished the story, you were thankful you'd opted to put blocks on your tear ducts. You sat down. Your shut yours eyes turned off their display. You simply waited and listened. You wanted to use [Ice Cream in the Veins] on yourself to numb yourself to the pain you still felt, to help forget for just a little while how everyone in this session was a stone's throw away from getting corrupted and throwing you all into a similar situation. You didn't. You had to let these things be felt if you ever wanted to move past them.
