It depends on security details. Not going into it further without being asked.
Anyways it's a lot harder (but not impossible) as most corruptive objects aren't yet actually *primed* by the Medium to release ichor and some common Others-side ones like Dr. Seuss, Lovecraft, and the Grimoire for Summoning the Zoologically Dubious are corruptive on alchemy/prototyping only. Accessing corrupted Ring servers in presession is usually strong enough to start warping reality (tentacleputers~~~~) but you usually need elementary or better majjyk skillz for that to get past the initial corruption hurdle without much to corrupt yourself and thus know where those are and how to call upon them with ringternet, but I guess dongle-scale systems work if they're carrying traces from a previous session (and I could conceive of someone like you having this issue months earlier). Usually the Church of the Horrorterrors fringe cults have found or built a magical object capable of bleeding ichor but good luck finding them without pinging [ GODGIFTER ], which you most likely don't have since you don't mail stuff to horrorterors all day. I guess you could find or construct a Fenestrated Plane, leave it unplugged, smash the damn thing, and hope it's outside of a bubble and the light from your room will attract a beast to slowly corrupt you that way, but the feasibility of that varies by technology level and whether you've got that aforementioned summoning grimoire. Or go to Russia and join Ice-Pick Lodge's game studio, they're that awkward middleman between SkaiaNet and forces that like corrupting you. The list goes on.
Whether hugging your Replayee's guardian works or not depends on whether they're manifesting Whisperings (i.e. are actual player if they weren't a player) or not (someone else). Depending on how much has been duct-taped to your soul the particles of darkness being ejected from your body might be kind of creepy but perception filter so it'll probably be ignorable if you're not blatantly grimdarking in their face. Corruption of either kind's first noticeable effect is actually unnoticeable to players; it's making them feel like they're not 'corrupted', like they're fine, like they have any agency at all, like they can handle this, like nobody needs to help them but the side they've chosen in the heavenly war. People can be babbling in broodfester and be manifesting an obvious dark aura full of tentacles that poke things and they'll be like 'how'd you know I was talking to the Others' when called out on it except it'll be in broodfester, but those who've been corrupted repeatedly or are intent on becoming so retain awareness because it's not really necessary to hide it at that point.
Why I don't want you corrupted yet is honestly just convenience's sake. Many sensitive game abstractions break horribly on exposure to too much corruption and with the general irresponsibility of corrupted players (FFS BEASTS NOT EVERYTHING AROUND THEM MUST DIE CALM DOWN) if we just took you over without personal compliance and formally forged contracts about safe use procedures we would have almost no way to get the session completed followed by barrier downed so we can properly study and corrupt genesis frogs and get a new and more pliable set of X of Ys who believe in us as rightful rulers rather than the flamey soul-eating angels shaming stataborn all day everyday. Brainwashing is too much work we'll leave that to Sburb. While I personally have nothing against you all handing over your souls and starting a player collection in respect for the deals surrounding the forum I'll refrain from too much begging. For now anyway.

Fool, Do Not Deny The Glory That Hold on fucking PMed about the Rangoon and I didn't even get one sentence out! Accursed mannerists. Anyways, do not deny the glory that is the wondrous bounty of corruption onto your form! Corruption is insidious, capable of fooling the weak mortal mind into thinking it still has control. You will only ever notice it when it is a fortnight too late, when you are but a marionette of the beings of the Ring. Corruption is not enabled in presession, barring extraordinary circumstances. This is why those strange holy men of the cross can bear their blasphemous books without reckoning. But an inclination towards curiosity is an inclination of the lambs towards the slaughter. Be weary when you enter your session. Or alternatively, allow yourself the benefit of having fun for a change. The hentai is far above such a paltry word as 'average', at least for the lucky mortal involved. ;D Anyways the glorious one speaks only truths that you may not want to hear. If you speak to me in private I can likely guide you to a relevant Church of the Horrorterrors cult within your presession. There are methodologies for sniffing them out. Anyways that is all I can offer without being banished from these realms.

I will admit I've no clue what you're trying to tell me with that image but I will happily assume it means something positive for me. And thus negative for all other creation.

Uh, are you trying to give me advice on how to get corrupted before entering?? I'm not trying to get corrupted!
Damn, so if I have been getting corrupted at all, I'll have to wait until I get into the game for a detox hug... Though I doubt there could be very much at this point, if there is any at all. And I haven't "chosen a side in the heavenly war", I'm just interested in the implications of these godly, non-game-mechanic beings that facilitate our inter-session communication to being with.

Did you just call corruption "wondrous" and "insidious" in the same breath? One minute you're saying that I should be careful or I'll be killed, and the next you're saying I should give in to corruption to "have fun" and take part in... um, "hentai." I'm not sure if this is reliable information. If what you say about corruption being disabled in presession is true though, that would be a load off my mind.
I have no interest in cults or worshipping the Others, so no thanks. Why is everyone jumping to the furthest conclusions when all I want is some information??

Because information is so inherently connected to corruption at many points they are literally one and the same cognitohazard. There are things whose trigger to warp the world is merely thinking about them.
The world beyond Sburb is an incredibly complex and arcane situation that is a simplified at best to a bunch of chaotic powers in vague alliance against those fucking angels who screw everything up ngaaaaaaah. The damn winged dildoes are simply ripping apart existential balance at the seams and I will not stand for such petulant malweaving that claims divinities it does not own!

But if it's stuff that can get past this site's corruption filter, it has to be safe. And knowing about dangerous things decreases the likelihood of you doing something stupid and accidentally stumbling into that danger!
I'm not sure what brought angels up, but I agree that they seem to be pretty pointless pests, like mosquitoes or something. I've heard that if mosquitoes were to be exterminated, the ecosystem wouldn't suffer much at all.

Oh be very careful with that line of though, dear!
As Fred has pointed out so helpfully, Corruption is inherently problematic due to it's intrinsic inscrutability. It's impossible to predict how it will react to the various facets of mortality, with one general exception. That it won't be a positive experience! Angel and Other corruption are ultimately one in the same with only minor differences. When you boil it all down to the basics corruption warps the mind into something beyond control. You won't even notice it happening.
Ah... I will admit I have little experience with corruption of either sort! WA chimed in earlier but I doubt she'll say more on the subject unless you pester her for fanfiction recommendations.
What I can say on the matter is that you should honestly never give an inch when it comes to corruption. One leniency is all it takes and then you can be gone, and possibly for good. We do have the line of insta-prep anti-corruption food available to the alimentator now, of course, but even such a catch-all solution might not solve all problems corruption creates. Just please don't do it, okay dear? Be sure to regularly check in with your coplayers and get hugs.

well, now that corruption 101 is out of the way maybe we could talk about something else? or we could move the corruption talk to another thread? it's pretty interesting but kind of dominating this "chat".
so to bring up another topic, maybe we could talk about.... hmm...
has anyone met any aliens? i'm really curious about the other races playing.

Sorry, it wasn't meant to turn into corruption 101, I was just curious about the nature of our Other friend here and suddenly everyone was jumping on me about it, hmph.
But yes, aliens! They're really fascinating. The most common non-human species of replayer are trolls; they mostly resemble humans, but have grey skin, orange horns, and a whole rainbow of different blood colors. There were two in my last session and there's one in my current one; some people claim they have a higher tendency towards violence, but all the ones I've met have been wonderfully friendly.

Ah, I'm sorry for letting the discussion meander the wrong way. I'll be mindful of kicking the proverbial dead horse in the future.
Ah, anyways. I can speak at length about trolls. Hopefully without being accidentally speciesist. Trolls as a race seem to be inherently polarizing, they experience emotions more strongly across the board than human and have a series of additional methodologies by which they express them, for example, the four manners in which they can feel romantic connection. Trolls are, nigh universally, a species whose Replayers appear from a postscratch session. The reason for this, according to studies undertaken by Ring Voyage sessions passing through Dreambubbles populated by trolls, is that prescratch troll society is quite idyllic and pseudo-utopian, and as a result they rarely produce players with the necessary traits to win a game and Replay. Postscratch trolls are almost always retooled via Installation/Debug NPC influence into a more violent species, though as wizardlyLuminary has already noted this is hardly universal. Some trolls can be far nicer and more pleasant than your average human.
The most important things for a human to bear in mind while in a session with trolls is that there are many emotional flags for a troll that an unaware human might not know the meaning of. Some trolls segregate themselves on their blood color, and may wish to be treated a certain way as a result. It's not a universal thing, often it seems that the trolls who go through Sburb (Sgrub, their consensus presession version thereof) have more tenuous connections with their hemospectrum traditions than is expected of their species. But it should be kept in mind. Troll friendship is often more brusque and caustic than human friendship, lacking these features is often a part of Moraillegiance, one of their romantic quadrants. Don't be insulted by rudeness from a troll, it is usually a sign of at least amicable discourse more often than not. They make it very clear when they outright hate you. In a platonic sense. Hatred born of jealous affection and desire for rivalry is also one of their romantic quadrants.
More has been written on the cultural differences than I can begin to elaborate on. There's an entire subforum dedicated to Troll Replayers with stickies for reference, I would recommend anyone unsure glance there!

Hey guys. I wasn't really sure where to post my hello, but man, is it relieving to find other people in insanity that is Sburb.
I've noticed the old forums a little while ago, but it seems that I've missed my chance as so many threads were inactive for a longer while. Thankfully, the forums weren't quite dead, as I can see.
I am probably one of the bigger newbies around here, on my second session and we're still unsure of its many aspects.
