General Guide to the Easter Egg Aspects by restlessDervativ
fun fact i hate typing in capital letters so much that i actually had to get my gf to type that so shout out to tc thanks babe
so, recent developments in the sburb world have led to the existance of a multitude of new + exciting aspects which i personally have taken to calling 'the easter egg aspects' the name of course originates from the theory that these new aspects have been coded in the game since the beginning and that they are now available to us as the result of a set of numbers being reached and boxes being ticked thus unlocking new aspects in short: more replays = more successful sessions = more aspects
the easter egg aspects are as follows: - coins - flesh - flux - joy - ploy - self - sight - sound - stage everything not listed on here is not yet confirmed as an aspect ok chill out wait till shits confirmed bc it could always be a glitch now looking at that youre probably thinking "damn theres some pretty rad looking stuff right there" - and youd be right lets get down to business
[pairings] these are my workin theories for what aspects are paired together dont go harassing me if they dont match up w/ your ideas okay thats lame + youre lame for even considering it also: wip wip wip this shit is so in progress you have no idea ok
flesh <-> ploy abject servitude vs using others to get ahead sounds like a fanfic i read once
flux <-> stage ok ngl this is a total guess and is subject to change
joy <-> self ikr how weird is this one but hang with me here ok joy is all about what you want the thing that your heart sings for at night when youre shivering under your covers + just wishing you could be on your moon instead of inside your own head where youve got all these damn fucked up + dangerous thoughts but self self is about what you need
sight <-> sound sight is about simplicity and sound is about escalation so thats pretty simple also i mean have you seen the names

[coins]
whisperings: the fair key themes: confidence + control, abundance + restriction, balance, economy
[general factoids]
an interesting aspect to say the least, coins is all about the creation + regulation of abundance through self empowerment which is fancy talk for "coin players need to use self-confidence + belief to maintain an economy" what does this mean? well abundance means "to have a large quantity of something" so in short it means that coin players are great at giving they can give great stat buffs and debuffs and even have a bunch of abilities that provide boosts to grist and boondollar drops but lets not forget that coin players have to maintain an economy now an economy relies on the principle of supply and demand if supply exceeds demand then the value of everything just drops and its terrible and no one is happy but if demand exceeds supply then value sky rockets and everything is worth twice its normal value and everyone is happy what this means for coin players is that they cant give people everything they want they always have to hold something just out of reach and keep their coplayers wanting more its very frustrating for everyone involved which is probably why it relies so heavily on confidence to work "i know you want this buff but i cant actually give it to you because youll be content after that and that will make my abilities turn to shit"
[detailed factoids]
coins is a support aspect in the same way that breath is an offense aspect that is to say literally why would anyone play it any other way it just doesnt make sense what are you gonna do throw boondollars at underlings?? come on now by itself coins is a pretty weak aspect with another player? coins potential sky rockets so if you ever get coins youre first port of call should be immediately finding someone else to team up with and youll be wrecking shop in no time
coins comes with some real powerful buffs and debuffs as ive said before [pay day] provides a pretty nice buff to strength while causing underlings to drop boondollars instead of grist and [market crash] has some serious stat penalties that will not only send an enemy into a boondollar based panic but can one hit kill enemies when teamed up with another player coin players also have a natural aptitude for playing the hell out of the stock exchange of their land and are basically guaranteed to be loaded before even midgame has come about
ive talked about maintaining an economy a bunch here and youre probably annoyed about hearing it so much by now but for realsies guys this is so important for a coin player to actually be effective as support for coins to work at its best you have to restrict abundance just as much as you gift it because if your coplayers ever think "i dont need any more buffs from this player i am perfectly fine as is" everything cast after that will be terrible like effectiveness reduced to 1/4 or less terrible until you remove all of the buffs you have given that player yeah all of them so if you ever get coin! remember! your! economy! withhold your most powerful abilities for occasions where your coplayers are basically begging you to use them and even then dont give them everything that theyre asking for the higher the perceived value of your abilities? the more in demand your supply is? the stronger you will be
[berserk factoids]
when coin players berserk they tend to auto-cast [balance the board] which randomly assigns buffs + debuffs to every player and construct in the vicinity which can either be fantastic or devastating depending on how the dice fall and then they go ahead and use [give and take] except instead of sharing things out amongst their coplayers they just start giving everything to themselves they will literally leech your health and strength and pluck and whatever they can get their hands on which unfortunately is great for their economy because it sure does create a high demand for all that supply that the player has going on - and that gives them an even bigger boost go figure

[flesh]
whisperings: the pulse (glitch - has the same name as blood but are still different whisperings) key themes: loyalty, construction, servitude
[general factoids]
flesh is a pretty simple aspect tbh its all about loyalty and collective servitude and making awesome zombie underlings underlings as in things that work for you not underlings as in the game construct although i guess they can be underling underlings anyway flesh players tend to be stubborn and loyal to the point that they wont change their mind about anything because then theyll feel unloyal and theyll totally throw their arc off "hey flesh player can you maybe stop doing that thing that is bad and stupid?" "what kind of unloyal shithole do you think i am"
[detailed factoids]
"collective servitude" is a couple of big words that kind of means extreme friendship a flesh player serves their creations as much as their creations serve them they have loyalty levels to the absolute extreme and the bond between creator and creations is not a bond to be tampered with by any means whether its their zombies or their constructs or heck even things theyve made sans flesh abilities these players will not want someone coming between their collective servitude shindig and doing that can and probably will get you dead
meta note: does anyone think that flesh is an offshoot of blood or is that just me because theyre literally the only two aspects in existence with the same damn name for their whisperings and blood came first so wuu2 flesh
[cancerous core] is a pretty fun ability which raises everything you kill as a zombie thats so rad! thats so so rad! the cascade effect that comes with it however is not so rad everything your zombie kills counts as a kill for you and will likewise be raised as a zombie which plays hell on your pluck in no time at all protip wait till you have [the unburied dead] so that you can command your zombies otherwise youll have a hoard of useless dead imps in no time
also if your fluxmoxie is low your zombies probably wont recognise your coplayers as allies and will try to kill your friends and raise them as mindless husks so uh watch out for that
note to time players: just let flesh players have your doomed yous ok sure its kind of gross to see yourself turned into a construct or weapon or a chair or whatever but flesh players need flesh and youve got plenty of that on hand at all times get over yourselves for the sake of game progression already
[berserk factoids]
berserk flesh players will almost universally go ahead and use [out of many, one] which is fucking terrifying and not something you should stick around to watch seriously get the heck out of there if you dont want to be absorbed by a giant zombie flesh golem or alternatively stepped on by said giant zombie flesh golem sometimes theyll cast [neutral net] instead which sucks but being part of a hive mind is a lot easier to survive than being murdered so theres that at least plus a decent heart player can fix that pretty easily moving onto your next session will also fix it

[flux]
whisperings: the story key themes: self-awareness, meta, narrative arcs, being the audience and the author
[general factoids]
for the record: i hate hate hate this aspect idk who thought it was a good idea but i guess sometimes sburb has to suck or it just isnt sburb this aspect is tedious and exists as a constant reminder of both the fact that we exist within a game and this thing called "the fourth wall" which is weird considering this is reality so uh i dunno what thats about if you role flux then i hope you like meta and knowing useless things because thats basically whats in store for you
[detailed factoids]
youd think this would be a good aspect for game breaking because its so self aware but guess what! the fact that it relies so heavily on the game actually makes it shit at game breaking because essentially youd be breaking your own damn aspect yet another reason to hate this shit fest of an aspect
ugh anyway so flux is all about being aware of the game and acting as part of the game while you guessed it knowing that you are in the game this entire aspect revolves so heavily around the fact that you are part of a game its unreal youve got abilities like [mspa reader] which lets you view your session from the point of view of every player and construct within your session frame by frame - like it was a comic this costs a lot of pluck and can only really be used after major story events and as such is basically worthless youve also got [==>] which is straight up mind control in the style of an exile and is dumb why would you use this on a coplayer unless theyre all up and berserk triggered or something [shipping grids] is ok i guess it lets you overview all of the relationships going on in your session which can be pretty useful if youre terrible at readin people
flux also has the ability [fan-done it], which lets you see fanart and fanfics of various events within your session cool but essentially useless just like the rest of flux
[berserk factoids]
ive never seen a flux player berserk but i can almost guarantee you all they would do is throw fanart at you oooh nooo how terribleee
currently wip bc for real fuck this aspect fuck it

[joy]
whisperings: the laughtrack key themes: laughter, redemption in your own eyes, doing things because theyre fun not because theyre right, feeling really bad to feel really good
[general factoids]
joy is an interesting house of cards to say the least + is up there for my total favourite out of all the easter egg aspects im not just saying that because shit has great gamebreaking potential ok maybe i am
joy is about doing what feels right in your heart of hearts and gut of guts ignoring things that have been imposed on you by literally anything other than your own thoughts and rolling with whatever sick twisted shit you keep hidden away upstairs want to jump out the window go for it want to give your friends an obscelenly long hug its all yours buddy want to squawk like an imbecile and shit on your desk - well then ive got some bad news for you you cannot play joy and lie to yourself about what you want it just doesnt work and yes its exactly as op and volatile as it sounds theres a reason that lilies are joys thing
[detailed factoids]
a good joy player will be smiling and laughing more than a rain player using [lidoff] because the whole point of joy is to feel joy surprise surprise joy is going to make you feel gross and horrible and its going to drag up every disgusting thing that youve ever wanted from the deepest darkest corner of your mind which could actually be a pretty bad deal if youve got a record for corruption btw and then its going to make you feel fucking ecstatic when you get to act out on all those sweet sweet desires
heres a general rule for joy abilities theyll do two opposite things and the thing you want more is the thing that will occur so if you cast [poppy field] for example you will either knock someone out or wake someone up depending on what you want to happen its finicky and awesome and i love it
joys standard ability is called [midsummer blossoms] and it allows players to enact a desire through flowers just let that sink in "i want to cross this river" dandelion bridge "i want to take a nap" sunflower bed "i want to suffocate this basalisk" poppys in their throat this ability can be seriously dangerous if you use it wrong especially if youre prone to rampaging bouts of anger consider whether you actually want to murder your coplayer before you cast this of if youre just feeling it in the heat of the moment please another rad joy ability is [tiptoe through the tulips] either gets people right on your side or gets them the hell away from you its a pretty great way to convince underlings that um yeah im totally your boss man get on in here and help out although honestly a lot of people want underlings to get away from them rather than get nearer and joy will know that when you use this ability ok
[berserk factoids]
when a joy player berserks guaranteed theyre going to cast [daisy chain] to build up some buffs from their combos and just go blasting off with [nights dream] that shit is like hyped up [midsummer blossoms] to the max if that joy player so much as feels a vague gut pull towards something flowers are going to erupt from them the ground and the object of their desires in a mad dash scramble to get the thing and obviously when your joy player is berserking theyre not busy trying to rationalize to themselves about whether their desires are true desires or impulses
